Docs
How to build a site with coppice, from the first build to customising its look.
coppice builds a small personal site from markdown: a home page with an animation, posts, pages, galleries, these docs and a feed. These pages explain each part, in the order you are likely to need them; the box at the top of their sidebar searches them all, and / goes to it from anywhere in the docs. For everything at work on one page, see A tour of coppice.
- Getting started
What to install, how to build and look at the site, and where everything lives.
- Settings
Every setting in config.toml, what it changes and what it accepts.
- Pages, posts and docs
The three kinds of writing a site holds, where each goes, and the front matter each takes.
- Writing
Markdown, headings, links, sidenotes, callouts, pictures, mathematics and code.
- Galleries
Pictures in a grid, each opening full size, with thumbnails made by the build.
- Accessibility
What coppice does so everyone can read the site, and what's left to the writing.
- Deploying
Putting the site online, on any static host or one that builds from git.
- Customising
Changing the look beyond the settings: the stylesheet, the templates, a new colour theme or animation.
